Nutella Hot Chocolate

Nutella Hot Chocolate

I’m in looove with the cocoaa! Hahah, it’s almost Christmas! The holidays can be difficult for some, and nothing helps quite as much as a cozy cup of hot chocolate. This is the time of the year to indulge in sweets and surround yourself with loving family. This rich, decadent recipe for Nutella Hot Chocolate is the perfect thing to cuddle up with on a cold night. It kicks up regular hot cocoa a bit with the hazelnut goodness of Nutella. A pinch of salt creates a lovely balance, and you can top it off with a ton of homemade whip, marshmallows, and chocolate syrup if you wish. Easy peazy and great for entertaining :)

What You Need: (Serves 1)

1 cup milk (I used 2%)

2 ½ tbsp Nutella

1 tbsp Cocoa

Tiny pinch of salt

Marshmallows & chocolate syrup (optional)

For homemade whipped cream:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tbsp sugar

½ tsp vanilla extract

What To Do:

- Dump the cocoa powder into a small saucepan. Keep the heat off while you slowly whisk in 1 cup of milk until incorporated. This helps you attack the clumps, by slowly adding the liquid.

- Heat this on medium-low heat, adding in the Nutella and pinch of salt. Whisk together until it’s all blended and piping hot.

- For homemade whipped cream, pour all the ingredients into a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer. Start off on low and work your way up to high. Make sure not to overbeat the whipped cream.

- Pour your delicious Nutella Hot Chocolate into your favorite mug. I love topping mine off with a huge dollop of whipped cream and marshmallows. Another trick is to lightly toast the marshmallows as well (I used a creme brulee torch, but you can also use the broiler and then dump the toasted marshmallows on top of your cocoa). This makes them have this glorious crust, and makes them nice and oozy on the inside.

That’s it! Top with some cocoa powder, cinnamon, peppermint candy, or chocolate syrup. The options are endless….A little shot of Bailey’s never hurt either ;)

I hope you all are enjoying the holidays.. it may sound simple, but make sure to let people know how much you appreciate them. Life is just so short and unpredictable. <3
